travel south america chile punta arenas around the city

I got a good chance to a pretty good cross section of Punta Arenas as we drove from the cruise pier north to Route 9 and then west-northwest to Rio Verde.
I also got to visit the main square, Plaza de Armans, on foot and see monuments there and historical architecture that surrounded the square.
Once again, like most big cities, the city is one of contrasts...large park-like areas with well manicured landscapes and old neighborhoods filled with graffiti.
I travelled the flull length of Av. Pdte. Manuel Bulnes which features a nice grassy parkway between opposing lanes filled with sculptures and useable park space.
Overall, the city seemed cleaner than many of the big cities we visited.
